Cantilever Storage: Optimizing Process Flow

Client

As the name suggests, Basta Boatlifts designs and manufactures the highest quality of hydraulic boat lifts, jet ski lifts, seaplane lifts and accessories. Headquartered in the beautiful Pacific Northwest they know the boating lifestyle and what it means to protect your investments.

Opportunity

The materials handled and stored by the production team at Basta Boatlifts needed a proper system. Ideally, despite space constraints, all inventory and materials would be housed indoors and easily accessible. Capacity and an effective layout would need to be top priority for this solution.

Design PROCESS

The right storage solution would need the ability to house large bundles at all levels. Single-sided racking was chosen over the alternative to create functional aisleways. Due to tight spaces, a combilift would be required along with proper engineering to eliminate bracing.

Design Solution

ReSolve Industrial Solutions designed and implemented a structural cantilever racking system. Cantilever racking is ideal for storing of longer goods and materials of varying lengths. This system met the necessary load capacities at the heights needed and in a high seismic region. Constructed of steel, the cantilever racks have the strength to store all the materials to maintain sufficient inventory. The layout was adapted to consider wall offset to minimize floor space consumption, proximity to workroom saws, and continued access to an emergency exit.

Impact

Process flow improved by maximizing the facility space. With all materials now stored indoors and accessible by the production team Basta Boatlifts is able to meet growing customer demand.
